I seriously cannot be arsed to read that massive long essay on the page of MSJ. Whilst I always use torrents to get my free mac software, this was another source What's going on? Can someone please read it and do a summary for me? Thanks Message below: Dear Fellow Junkies, Since its inception, the MacSerial Junkie has been through many hardships. In almost every occasion the biggest problems were about legal issues because in some countries it's illegal to discuss the topic we find so interesting. Right now we are facing problems from another direction: they're coming from a side where you'd least expect it.

The 'elite' Mac UnderGround scene, our own side. Or so we thought. Many of you might not even know underground movements exists, and that's the idea. A lot of the time, MSJ functions as a gateway between both worlds, in both directions. There are several 'movements' and we all live in great peace.

MSJ's policy has always been to stand on the sidelines and offer whatever we could to the community, you. No strings attached. Again, or so we thought. We'll take this opportunity to reveal what has been going on for the past two years now. It's ugly, unfair and unbelievable all at the same time. It sounds like a bad soap opera and really, it is. Let it be clear that whatever statements we make here are based on hard facts.

This story can be backed up by hard proof so there won't be any discussion of what went on right under our noses. Since a lot of you don't know the complete history, here's a little intro first (We'll keep it short). There are different opinions on who's to blame for what exactly but that's not our goal here. As you all know, MSJ is a community built upon openess and loyalty. People dedicating their time to help MSJ grow, dedicated members get to be moderators and dedicated moderators get to moderator moderators and so on.

Until you reach the top mod levels and that's where the real decision-making goes on. About two years ago, there was a clash between two 'competing' underground movements (can you imagine?). The details of this issue are hardly relevant except that two members of these communities were highly respected MSJ moderators, namely Hwit and Xee (a.k.a.

Xena Warrior Princess a.k.a. Hwit was chosen by us, the founders, to lead MSJ onto the path we envisioned since we had other priorities than running MSJ on a daily basis. We always had a clear vision of what MSJ should and should not be and Hwit did a pretty good job of following that route. Even though he also had interest in his underground movement he managed to separate those two very well. It was Hwit and Xee's conflicting interests that unfortunately lead to issues right here at MSJ. Since Hwit was higher ranked here, he had to make a decision; one he still regrets until this very day.

He wanted to 'demod' Xee, a highly respected member of the Mac community. Or so we thought. But in the end, Xee 'voluntarily' resigned herself and went back to her own underground server. A lot of moderators at that time didn't understand what exactly went on, yet MSJ rolled on and so did everyone's opinion on the matter. From that moment on and over a period of two years, MSJ mods were offered access to that server.

We don't know if all these moderators knew what was going on, let alone knew or agreed to the plans to come. Even so, Xee eventually hosted the secret forums where mutual members of MSJ and her server began to plot their dastardly plans under the guidance of, you'll never guess, our beloved MacWizard, a highly respected moderator who did a lot of work here. We were as shocked as most of you are probably. We've always heard him state that he's acting in the best interest of MSJ. Yet all this back-room staging had to happen behind closed doors and in secrecy of Xee's server with an elite group of moderators. They called the forums: Dictatorial Democracy where they discussed MSJ and another called Future Model where they discussed options where they'd either take over MSJ or mutiny to begin their own forum.

After long discussions in these secret forums, MacWizard wrote a lengthy email to Madmax expressing his concerns about the future of MSJ. His strongest complaints were that we, as founders, were still in charge while being absent most of the time; even though he himself had been hardly active at MSJ lately and we head admins rarely intervened with day to day business. MacWizard also mentioned the Hwit/Xee issue was still bothering a lot of moderators as well. We now know this topic has been kept alive at Xee's server all along. Contrary to his assumption, we head admins visit MSJ frequently though, yet we do not actively participate and decision-making, let alone take part in any topics.

We only show up when there are crises at hand and real threats to MSJ's existence. The reason we do this is because we still strongly believe in MSJ and the envisioned path. Other than that everyone was free to sculpt MSJ's future the way they seemed fit. But to some moderators this freedom was not sufficient and, even though everyone had the access that was needed, more access was wanted. Even owning the domain name was being discussed.

What Does Msj Stand For

Recently, MacWizard wrote madmax a story that a group of MSJ moderators was about to start their own message board and that Kuzelnik was pissing off our host by demanding access to our own website and email access (which he did ask for, who wouldn't?). Furthermore, MacWizard mentioned a great deal of 'old school' issues with both Hwit and Kuzelnik and made it look like they were the evil bosses that no one dared to talk to, therefore MacWizard was intending to 'mediate' with Madmax; probably thinking that Madmax would be easiest to convince to hand over the keys to Mac Serial Junkie. Little did he know that even though we do not show up a lot, there are always alert people with a lot of common sense and dignity to save the day. Madmax asked both Kuzelnik and Hwit to open up threads where people who had experienced problems with either one of them could respond to personally.

Thus taking the whole situation out of secrecy and into the open. People vented their frustrations and Kuzelnik diligently responded to the lies and distortions that have infected MSJ over the last two years. Now read carefully: Some of the moderators mentioned in the letter MacWizard wrote did not even agree with his ideas and plans; let alone gave permission to be mentioned as 'offended moderators.' MacWizard included their names and said they believed in a position they didn't believe in so he could make his case. This was just one of his many lies in this process. Even worse, he forwarded Madmax's replies to these moderators afterwards, disclosing all kinds of private information.

The biggest treason of all is that MacWizard slimed his way to our host. We've seen plans that he'd use this to block MSJ from continuing being hosted at it's current home. Forming a new forum for mac serial discussions is perfectly fine, off course. We couldn't care less. Taking along some moderators who think it's unfair that they don't have a say in critical decisions that determine MSJ's path is even acceptable. New moderators will fill their place at MSJ.

But playing dirty like this just does not show any respect towards the founders of MSJ nor the rest of the community. Keep in mind that all the communication with Madmax, as well as the posts in the MSJ staff forum, were all orchestrated by MacWizard on Xee's server.

Everything we state here was planned in advance. We have even read posts where they study and refer to group dynamics and how to manipulate benefit from them.

Between the two of them, they were really directing and manipulating a lot of moderators at MSJ into a certain direction.away from the sense of community which MSJ is about. We have so much proof of those discussions it's not even funny anymore. Really, we're not laughing and no one probably is. But issues like this have to be dealt with accordingly.

As you can imagine, a group like MSJ has numerous ties with underground communities and, even after this blows over, some of them will continue to monitor threats to our community. Some have left Xee's server voluntarily stating what upset them so much and why.

It is thanks to them and others we had enough time to plan a counter- strike and organize a safe future where MSJ remains operating solitary and in a way that everyone will be able to benefit from, not with just one select 'elite' group. We think that it's insane that threats have to come from within the community though. But hopefully this is a one- time event and everyone will get this story straight and give it a place in their minds, giving them a sense of ease before participating in the community.

We are working on a graphic design upgrade, fail-safe hosting and a mod-crew that's dedicated to the community. So rest assured, MSJ is more alive and kicking than ever before! Regards, Madmax and Kuzelnik Founders and Godfathers of MSJ. As new revelations evolve, this place will continue function as a billboard for the truth to reach all people and leave no room for speculation or false statements.
