You can try it already on MacPro, you will need: 1) working efi nvidia card (7300gt/8800gt/gt120), ati might work too 2) some gtx 2xx card you wanna get working 3) install Injector pkg – 4) do not reboot after previous step, and install drivers from quadro 4800 disk (you can find them in irc, irc.osx86.hu #gt200 channel, link in topic) 5) now reboot. If you are lucky enough, you will get this, some minor glitches yet, like wrong ram size(working on it), but it works.
Some notes based on my experiences in 1st Gen Mac Pro 1,1: To run GTX285, needed 2nd card to be Nvidia with working EFI, ATI kernal paniced 1. I installed the EVGA drivers F16, and Netkas’ package 2. I used Lane Utility to set GTX285 in Slot #1 set @ 16 lanes, with EFI Nvidia card in Slot #3 set to 4 lanes (must be at least 4) 3. I installed cards as above 4. Upon reboot the GTX285 would pop up at desktop time, not before. If I use a 8800GT as EFI card, I can leave DVI connector on GTX285 and it functions normally 6. If I use a 7300 or Quadro 4500 as EFI card, I will need to connect whichever G70 card first and then move DVI to GTX285 Really cool to have this High End card working in my 1st Gen, despite it being “unsupported”.

Thanks to Netkas. Hi, I installed my new asus geforce gtx 260 into my mac pro. I managed to get 2 power cables to the card (one from my old HD 3870 for mac & pc, 2nd from the optical drive).

I installed the netkas drivers and modified gtx200 drivers. When I boot the screen stays black. When I boot with my HD 2600 in slot 1 and gtx 260 in slot 2 (where it stays cause the power cables aren’t long enough for slot 1) I get stuck at the blue screen before the login window, or I get no picture at all. Booting with the ATI cards everything is ok, as it should be. What can I do to make this work? Do I need to flash the card or something? If it’s possible and I do that, will the gtx 260 work in mac and windows too?
