Harman Kardon Soundsticks Driver For Mac
I have not upgraded to Lion, and am still using 10.6.8 and my speakers have been working great up until yesterday when my sister unplugged and replugged the power supply. The blue light in the subwoofer still lights, but I've tried rebooting, using different USB slots, moving the power plug, nothing works. They are no longer in the list for 'audio output' in System Prefs.
I can't spend anything to fix the situation and sadly my living room stereo speakers blew a channel (deservedly, since they are 20 years old). I got these HK Soundsticks with my G4 Power PC in 02 and they worked fine with my new IMac for the last year and a half. If all it is, is a driver, or some kind of power supply defect, HK should address it.
Apple should insist they do. We have to stop throwing everything in the landfills every few months or years. My HK first generation are fully operating! Yes, it,is me again, but now with a little trick that was working so well for me and I would like to know if it works for you. The first solution that was working for few months was with a old preference file from Leopard. But this solution stop working for me when I disconnect the power cord and never come back to work. 2nd solution; is SO simple and I hope it will work for you too.
I let the HK unplugged for few days, like someone has already discuss. BUT the thing that works for me is. With everything unplugged ( USB and Power Cord ), with my late iMac 2012 and Mountain Lion, open iTunes choose a song and let it play, plug the power and after the USB it will make a BIG noisy sound.

A client had an old pair of speakers that they wanted setup on the Mac. There were Harman Kardon Soundsticks 2.1. See some pics with link at bottom of this question. They actually connect to the PC via USB. When I connected them to the Imac, nothing happens? When I go into the the Mac device settings and look at sound, it only gives one option of output and that is internal Mac speakers. These speakers are old.

Looking them up they seem to be released on 2000. I noticed newer versions of this speaker are not USB. CAn I get these to work on the Mac? Anyone have any ideas? See more images at:.
